Our History

Schmidt's Music was founded by Dave Schmidt in 1982. Dave grew up in New Orleans, surrounded by music, and later majored in Music in college. He furthered his education by attending the Allied Music Repair School, becoming a highly skilled repair technician. After opening his repair shop in downtown Pensacola, the business grew rapidly due to the demand for quality repair services. Over the years, Schmidt's Music has expanded to carry a full array of band and orchestral instruments, accessories, and sheet music. We proudly represent top manufacturers such as Yamaha, Conn-Selmer, Jupiter, and Aberto Vitali.

Rent-to-Own Programs

Our Rent-to-Own program is a risk-free option for musicians of all levels. You make small monthly payments, which are applied toward the purchase of your instrument. The program includes comprehensive maintenance and replacement coverage, theft coverage, and the option to exchange instruments or step up to a higher level instrument. Our Rent-to-Own programs are available for both band and orchestra instruments.

Rent-to-Own Program Details

For band instruments:

• Make Your Selection: Choose from our outstanding selection of high-quality new and used instruments.
• Payments: Make small monthly payments, which are applied toward the purchase of your instrument.
• No Obligation: You may return the instrument at any time.
• Comprehensive Maintenance Coverage: Included in your monthly payment.
• Theft Coverage: Your instrument is covered at all times for loss or theft with full replacement.
• Exchange: Upon approval of your child's teacher, you may exchange your Rent-to-Own band instrument for any other type of Rent-to-Own band instrument of equivalent or greater value.

For orchestra instruments:

• Make Your Selection: Choose from our outstanding selection of high-quality instruments.
• Payments: Make small monthly payments, which are applied toward the purchase of your instrument.
• No Obligation: You may return the instrument at any time.
• Comprehensive Maintenance Coverage: Included in your monthly payment.
• Theft Coverage: Your instrument is covered at all times for loss or theft with full replacement.
