Young Actors Theatre

Young Actors Theatre (YAT) has been inspiring youth in the Southeast through the magic of the performing arts since 1975. As a performing arts program, we provide quality training in music, acting, dance, and film, with scholarships available to ensure accessibility for all. We serve over 800 children, aged 3-18, with an audition-based Company of 120 talented young actors. Our alumni have achieved great success, shining on Broadway, winning Emmy Awards, and starring on network and Netflix shows. They have also applied the skills learned at YAT to excel in professional settings such as board rooms, operating rooms, and presidential campaigns, with two currently employed by NASA!

More Than a Show

At YAT, we believe that the performing arts offer more than just entertainment; they also provide numerous benefits for children's cognitive, social, and emotional development. Research has shown that access to the performing arts increases reading fluidity in Pre-K learners, raises test scores and GPAs, and decreases school dropout rates. Furthermore, participation in the performing arts improves self-confidence, fosters optimism and resilience, strengthens teamwork, and encourages innovative thinking.

Inspired Audiences

Each year, YAT welcomes over 10,000 audience members of all ages to our on-site theater, with additional shows for countless school children and community members at partner events. Our organization has an active network of families, alumni, subscribers, and donors dating back to 1975, as well as an engaged following of thousands across digital media channels.
