Catfish John

We have been creating and performing music for over four decades, recording a wide variety of albums that span blues/rock, traditional folk, country, and delta blues styles. Our touring experience includes national performances as a solo artist and collaborations with numerous bands such as String Fever, Cool Country, The Front Street Blues Band, and others. For over ten years we hosted and produced a live music radio show, "Catfish John's Radio Jamboree," on KUFM Public Radio in Missoula, Montana. After relocating to Maui in 1991 we led The Front Street Blues Band, performing in clubs and on tour boats while also establishing Koa Music and Recording studio. At Koa Music we provided private music lessons and engineered recording sessions for local musicians, sharing our multiinstrumentalist expertise. Our instrumental versatility allows us to play guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, bass, ukulele, harmonica, piano, and drums across diverse musical genres.

We have maintained an active music career on Maui for nearly thirty years, balancing performance with windsurfing and community engagement. Currently we continue to compose, record, and perform from our home in north central Idaho, where we reside with our spouse. Through our Music Recovery Project we have rescued and restored recordings from obsolete formats such as 1/4inch reeltoreel, cassette, DAT, and magnetooptical disc using modern software. Our discography exceeds fifty albums, all available for streaming on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and other major platforms. We also author and publish original song lyric books and a guitar instructional guide on Amazon, offering tangible resources for musicians and fans.
