Music Academy, founded in 2009, is a thriving music instruction studio located in Prattville, Alabama. Our mission is simple: to nurture a lifelong passion for music in students of all ages and backgrounds. We believe that everyone, regardless of their prior experience or musical aspirations, deserves the opportunity to explore and enjoy the transformative power of music.

Our Instructor

Our founder and lead instructor, Brian Roughton, is a dedicated and experienced musician with a passion for sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with others. Brian began his musical journey at the Carver Creative and Performing Arts Center in Montgomery, Alabama, where he started classical guitar studies. His talent and dedication led him to receive a music scholarship to Stetson University, where he honed his skills in guitar performance and composition under the guidance of renowned professors. Furthering his musical education at the prestigious Yale School of Music, Brian studied with world-class instructors, deepening his understanding of both performance and composition.

Brian's commitment to music education extends beyond his own studio. He has served on the faculty at Auburn University Montgomery and as a guitar instructor at Faulkner University, sharing his expertise with a wider community of aspiring musicians. Brian's personal journey with music, which includes composing works for both acoustic and electric guitars, as well as computer-generated music, underscores his dedication to the endless possibilities within the realm of music.

Our Commitment to Students

Music Academy fosters a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students can explore their musical talents at their own pace. Our personalized approach ensures that each student receives tailored instruction to meet their individual needs and goals. We offer one-on-one lessons in a variety of instruments, including guitar, piano, strings, voice, brass, winds, and percussion.

Our students range in age from 5 to 75, demonstrating the universal appeal and enriching benefits of music education. Weekly 30-minute lessons provide ample opportunity for focused practice and progress.
