Teaching the Fundamentals of Music, One Student at a Time

Lisa's passion for violin and viola began at a young age, and she has dedicated her life to sharing this love with others. With 32 years of teaching experience, she is honored to work with each and every student, watching them grow and find success in their musical journey. Lisa earned her BFA in Music Performance from UW-Milwaukee in 1993 and started her private studio shortly after. Since then, she has established and maintained an active and thriving studio, even through the challenges of virtual learning.

In addition to her private studio, Lisa has been a member of various community symphonies and held the position of first violinist in the Kettle Moraine Symphony since 2010. She is also an active member of the KMS Board of Directors. In 2013, Lisa became the String Support Instructor at Hartford Union High School and provided individual lessons to orchestra students until 2016. Following this, she was hired as the Orchestra Support Teacher for the West Bend School District, where she taught small group and individual lessons. Although her position in the public school district ended in 2020, Lisa is now able to focus more on her private lesson students and is eager to grow her studio.

Services Offered

Heartstrings Studio, located in Jackson, is a private lesson studio run by Lisa, a violin and viola instructor with over 20 years of experience. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts-Music Performance (violin) from UW-Milwaukee. Lisa offers private lessons for violin and viola students of all ages and skill levels. Each lesson takes into account each student's goals, abilities, experience, strengths, and weaknesses.

Lisa's teaching style is open, honest, fun, and encouraging. She incorporates games, music listening, charts, toys, and illustrations to provide motivation and keep learning fun and exciting for young beginners. Her focus is on teaching the basic concepts of violin playing, or the "fundies, " rather than just teaching notation and tune playing. She also incorporates music theory as a musical notation of rhythm, melody, and sight reading.

In addition to private lessons, Lisa is available to play for weddings as a soloist or with her quartet, The Mosaic Quartet. She provides prelude music, processional/recessional music, and pre-reception/cocktail music for weddings and other events.
