Since 1973, Caruth Piano Studio has been dedicated to nurturing a love of music in students of all ages. Based in Ankeny, Iowa since 2001, our studio has built a reputation for excellence, with students known throughout the state for their musical dedication, proficiency, and impressive achievements. Our founder and director, Cyndie Caruth, is a nationally certified piano instructor and holds a distinguished record of service within the music education community.

Our Approach to Music Education

At Caruth Piano Studio, we believe that learning piano should be a joyous and fulfilling experience. Our comprehensive curriculum goes beyond simply playing notes. Our studio offers a thoughtfully designed space conducive to learning and creativity. Equipped with three grand pianos, a dedicated warm-up area, and an additional classroom environment, we provide students with the resources they need to thrive.

The Impact of Our Studio

The accomplishments of our students are a testament to the effectiveness of our teaching methods. Students have earned numerous awards in prestigious competitions such as the IMTA District and State auditions, MTNA auditions, Terrace Hill Competition, Starr Competition, Milwaukee Chopin Piano Competition, UNI Festival Scholarship, Dorian Festival, Sejong Competition, National Guild of Piano Teachers, and Fort Dodge Symphony Competition. Beyond competitive success, our students have been featured in concerto and television performances, demonstrating their artistic growth and talent. Many have been awarded camp scholarships and full-tuition college scholarships, highlighting the transformative power of music education.

Many of our students have expanded their musical horizons by participating in summer programs and attending prestigious camps across the United States, Germany, and Italy. These experiences enrich their musical knowledge and broaden their perspective on the world of music.

The Legacy of Cyndie Caruth

Cyndie Caruth, NCTM, founder and director of Caruth Piano Studio, is a highly respected figure in the music education community. Certified as a piano instructor since 1973, she was among the first ten music educators in the United States to achieve national certification through the MTNA examination program.

Her commitment to excellence extends beyond her studio. Cyndie has served in numerous leadership roles within the Iowa Music Teachers Association, including President, Foundation Chair, and West Central Division Board Member. Her contributions to music education have been recognized with numerous awards, including the "Friend of Education" award for her volunteer work, the "Certified Teacher of the Year" award, and the "Distinguished Service Award." She has also been featured in the Des Moines Register for her achievements and contributions to the field.

Cyndie's passion for music and her dedication to her students make her an exceptional teacher and a valuable asset to the Caruth Piano Studio family.
