Nurturing Creativity and Inspiring Learning in a Loving Environment
Calliope is a nonprofit educational and presenting organization dedicated to promoting and preserving traditional and contemporary folk music and its allied arts. Founded in 1976, we believe that music is a language that speaks to our souls, allowing us to learn, create, and connect with others. Our mission is to bring people together through the universal language of music, fostering a sense of community and promoting diversity and inclusivity.
Our Programs
We present a wide range of programs and events, including concerts, workshops, jam sessions, and community outreach programs. Our goal is to bring high-quality music to the Pittsburgh region, featuring both national and international artists, as well as local and regional performers. We also offer education and instruction through our School of Folk Music, providing accessible and affordable instruction in traditional and contemporary music.
Concerts & Events
Our concert series showcases a diverse range of folk and roots-based music, from traditional to contemporary styles. We also host festivals, workshops, and community events that celebrate the richness and diversity of folk music. Join us this summer at Schenley Plaza for our Summer Series, featuring a series of concerts and events under the tent.
