The Band Connection

The Band Connection was established in April 2007 by Billy Walker, a former band director with over 17 years of experience. Driven by a passion for music education and a desire to ensure every student had access to quality instruments, Billy envisioned a store that catered specifically to the needs of local school band programs.

Located in Allen, Texas, just north of Dallas, The Band Connection serves the vibrant musical communities of Allen, Lovejoy, Frisco, McKinney, Wylie, Plano, Rockwall, Mesquite in North Texas, and Leander, Cedar Park, Round Rock, and Del Valle in the Austin area. For Billy, the story of The Band Connection is deeply intertwined with his personal experience as both a band director and a band parent. He understands firsthand the financial challenges some families face when trying to provide their children with the necessary instruments to participate in band.

A Passion For Accessibility

During his final two years as a band director, Billy implemented a program to address this issue. He personally purchased high-quality used student-model instruments, meticulously maintained them, and offered them to families in need at a deeply discounted price. This initiative allowed approximately 150 students to experience the joys of playing music, something that would have otherwise been unattainable for them. The overwhelming joy on the faces of both parents and students when they discovered an affordable instrument option solidified Billy's belief that every child deserved the opportunity to participate in band.

The Band Connection emerged from this calling to provide accessible musical instruments and support to the local communities. Billy's college degrees in Business and Music Education, combined with his extensive experience as a band director and band parent, provide a unique foundation for understanding both the musical and logistical needs of families and schools.
