We operate LAAPA School of Music & Dance - Covington as a comprehensive training destination for music and dance education, welcoming more than 200 students from throughout the Northshore, including Bush, Folsom, Franklinton, Hammond, Madisonville, Mandeville, and Slidell, Louisiana. Our reach also extends to committed students who travel from Mississippi communities such as Carriere, Picayune, and Gulfport. The school is situated in historic downtown Covington, and our newly opened, state-of-the-art campus on Highway 437 provides modern facilities, including multiple music studios, a dedicated dance studio equipped with a floating Marley floor, and a 100-seat performance theater intended for student presentations and performances.

Piano Lessons at our academy provide comprehensive private training for students of all ages and experience levels. Our guitar instruction services are designed for students at beginning, intermediate, and advanced stages seeking structured musical development. We deliver private voice lessons designed to cultivate each singers unique sound through structured instruction in technique and musicianship. Weekly sessions focus on breath control, resonance, diction, pitch accuracy, and stage readiness. The Louisiana Academy of Performing Arts delivers premier violin instruction for learners of all ages. We focus on individualized teaching, ensuring each lesson is shaped around student responsiveness and development. Instruction covers both basic foundations and advanced performance techniques. This structured approach helps students achieve skill and deepen appreciation for the violin.
We provide instruction in drums, cymbals, snare drum, and a variety of auxiliary percussion instruments including tambourine, shakers, triangle, bells, and woodblocks for students ages five through adult. Our approach keeps learning dynamic by encouraging exploration of multiple instruments while developing the ability to perform a range of musical grooves and styles as needed always.
We offer ballet instruction at multiple times during the week for students aged four and older at our Covington, Harahan, and Mandeville campuses. As the foundation of dance, ballet is the starting point we recommend for all students. Classes introduce and reinforce positions, techniques, and terminology. Student progress is presented in Spring recital and Christmas Show through choreography.
Hip Hop classes are scheduled at multiple times during the week for ages five and up. We teach a free energetic dance style influenced by jazz and African movement and pop culture. A family-friendly atmosphere is maintained and only appropriate music is used in instruction. Students strengthen rhythm, style, and technique while preparing for future performances and showcases. Mr. John helped me learn guitar on a level that was tailored to me. 1 on 1 lessons are paced at your own level and skill set (Which I had none of going in)!
