Founded in 2009 by Matt and Jenny Richardson, Blue Raven Music Studios was established to create an inclusive environment where music education is accessible to all ages and skill levels. Our studio has grown to feature 10 teaching rooms, a group room, and 15 instructors who specialize in diverse genres ranging from rock and jazz to classical and bluegrass. Many of our instructors are seasoned performers with decades of experience in the local music scene, and several began as students before returning as educators. We offer private lessons, group classes, and summer camps designed to foster musical growth through collaboration and performance opportunities. Our expanded facility since 2018 allows us to host rock bands, folk ensembles, and open jam sessions that emphasize the joy of playing music together.We provide instruction in 12+ instruments including guitar, piano, drums, and harp, with specialized programs for young beginners. Our summer camps culminate in live performances at local venues and festivals, giving students real-world stage experience. The studio operates seven days a week by appointment, with flexible scheduling options to accommodate learners' needs. Our teaching philosophy combines technical mastery with creative expression, encouraging students to explore multiple instruments and genres. With over 15 years of combined teaching experience among our staff, we remain committed to nurturing musical talent in Lincoln's community.

Matt Richardson
Co-Owner & Guitar Instructor
Matt Richardson has been teaching music since 2002 and performs regularly with Big Daddy Caleb and Chargers. Certified in Wernick Method Bluegrass Jam instruction, he brings decades of performance experience across multiple genres to his teaching.
Jenny Richardson
Co-Owner & Music Instructor
Jenny Richardson teaches guitar, bass, and ukulele while performing with Midnight Wanderers. She encourages students to explore multiple instruments and songwriting, drawing from her experience winning Tallgrass fiddle and band contests with her musical projects.
Sasha Watson
Violin & Guitar Instructor
A former student turned instructor, Sasha Watson teaches violin and guitar while performing with award-winning bands Cheap Death and Rattlesnakes and Pearls. She studied music technology at UNL and has assisted with summer camp programs since 2019.
Thai Nguyen
Guitar Instructor
Thai Nguyen brings extensive performance experience from multiple Midwest-based bands to his teaching. With over a decade of gigging experience across genres, he teaches beginner guitar while maintaining an active career as a session musician and band member.
Julietta Rabens
Harp & Piano Instructor
Dr. Julietta Rabens holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree and has developed specialized harp curricula for both children and adults. She focuses on technique development while encouraging musical creativity and exploration across various harp traditions.
