Southpaw Guitars

Southpaw Guitars has been a dedicated advocate for left-handed musicians since 1980. Founded in Houston, Texas, by Jim Duncan, the business began as a small resale shop and has grown into the world's largest retailer specializing exclusively in left-handed guitars and stringed instruments. Our mission stems from firsthand experience with the challenges left-handed players face in accessing quality instruments without inflated pricing. Through partnerships with major manufacturers like Fender, Gibson, Martin, and Taylor, we have helped eliminate the 'lefty tax' and normalize production of left-handed models. Our 4,000-square-foot showroom houses over 900 instruments, complemented by repair services, guitar lessons, and a knowledgeable team with decades of industry expertise.

We maintain direct relationships with manufacturers to expand left-handed offerings while preserving our community-focused approach. Our reputation as an authorized dealer for top brands reflects our commitment to quality and service. The store's influence extends globally through its online platform, serving musicians worldwide while maintaining deep roots in Houston's Gulfton neighborhood. Our advocacy continues to shape industry standards, ensuring future generations of left-handed players have equitable access to instruments. With a legacy spanning four decades, we remain focused on empowering musicians through personalized guidance and an unparalleled selection.
