The Musical Express

The Musical Express is more than just a piano studio; it's a vibrant community where children and adults alike discover the joy and power of music. Established in 2000 by Ms. Temeka Davis, our studio has grown to become one of the CSRA's most innovative and beloved piano studios, nurturing the musical journeys of over 110 students. Ms. Davis founded The Musical Express with a simple yet powerful belief: that piano education, imagination, adventure, and fun are all intrinsically intertwined.

Over the years, our studio family has expanded to include dedicated instructors like Mrs. Rebekah Whitaker, who joined the team in 2007, bringing her own passion and expertise to guide young musicians. At The Musical Express, we are unwavering in our commitment to fostering creativity and cultivating a love for music that extends far beyond the piano keys.

At The Musical Express, piano lessons are enriched through a variety of unique experiences. Individual instruction forms the core of our approach, allowing students to progress at their own pace and receive personalized attention from our expert instructors. However, we go beyond the traditional one-on-one setting. Our students participate in exciting music appreciation field trips, gaining a deeper understanding of the world of music beyond the piano. Community outreach music programs allow students to share their passion for music with others, fostering a sense of purpose and accomplishment. Performance recitals offer a platform for students to shine, performing for an audience and celebrating their musical achievements. And group workshops provide a chance for students to connect with peers, learn from one another, and develop a sense of belonging within our studio family.

The Musical Express is proud to be actively involved in various music organizations and associations that are dedicated to advancing music education and supporting piano teachers. We are particularly honored to have Ms. Temeka Davis serving as a board member for the Augusta Music Teachers Association (AMTA), currently holding the position of Membership Coordinator. Ms. Davis's dedication and leadership have made a significant contribution to the advancement of music education in our area. The Musical Express also holds active memberships in the Georgia Music Teachers Association (GMTA), the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), and the Piano Guild (a division of the American College of Musicians).

As a Steinway Teacher & Educational Partner, The Musical Express is part of an elite group of studios across the world, committed to providing world-class piano instruction and nurturing the talents of young musicians. Ms. Davis's continuous recognition as a Steinway and Sons Top Teacher Award recipient, awarded in 2022, 2020, 2018, 2017, and 2016, is a testament to her exceptional teaching abilities and unwavering dedication to her students.

In 2020, The Musical Express was voted one of the top three favorite places to take music lessons in Augusta Family Magazine's annual poll, a true testament to the high regard our studio holds within the community. We are also proud to be recognized with the Augusta Award, honoring our contributions to the thriving arts scene in the Augusta area.
